Teaches users how to install a Skyrim mod from the Steam Workshop with
Nexus Mod Manager, and how to remove the Workshop influence on that mod.
Introduction:
I have come across people who dislike using the Steam Workshop for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,
even though it contains great mods that are unavailable from other sources.
Their reasons for avoiding the Steam Workshop are often:
- They do not know how the Workshop works.
- They do not want the mod linked to their Steam account.
- They do not want automatic updates for the mod.
- They want to manage the mod themselves, or with their mod manager.
In this tutorial I will show you how to obtain manual control of the
Steam Workshop Skyrim mods, and how to install them with Nexus Mod Manager.

Please don´t use Nexus Mod Manager to download my tutorial package.
Instead, manual download it here.
Then unpack the package to your desktop
by using an archive program like 7zip or Winrar.
To open the .PDF you will need a .pdf reader, like this one.
Hopefully this will be useful to some of you. :)
- Dec 10, 2016 - I'd like to download the mods files onto my desktop without using. The only place to get the mods for the game are from the steam workshop.
- This is nothing to do with Steam Downloader and the API, and everything to do with the publisher of the game not enabling those who don't own the game on Steam to download workshop mods. The API Steam downloader (and similar web pages and tools) uses is a web-based API - it never had anything to do with the game itself.
- How can i download (and manually install) mods from the steam workshop without owning the game on steam. ( self.modpiracy ) submitted 3 years ago by bs1110101.
This guide shows you how to add mods from the Steam Workshop into a non-steam version of Skyrim. The text file is steam_appid.txt containing (72850) without parentheses. Thanks for the support! If there are mods for it you can download them. There’s the steam workshop, where a simple click on subscribe will add the mod. Or you can download the mod from the internet and do it the usual way. Steam makes it way easier for people to mod games.
This is NO mod. This is a TUTORIAL.What does it do?

I currently have poor internet for downloading games or anything large (i.e. around 150 KB/s maximum download rate).
When I subscribed to a very large Skyrim mod (SMIM) via the Workshop, the mod never got downloaded.
After an hour of playing Skyrim without it, waiting for Skyrim to sync and the works, it never started downloading.
Data Files
on Skyrim's launcher showed clear lack of any SMIM .esp files and refused to acknowledge that SMIM wasn't downloaded or installed.Eventually, I had to unsubscribe on the workshop and download it via the Skyrim Nexus.
I don't want to do this, because I like how easy the Workshop is, especially since I have multiple computers that I play Skyrim on.
This brings me to my question: When does Steam Workshop mods download/sync? Can I force-sync Workshop mods?
Note: The Skyrim launcher didn't work for syncing mods. As a matter of fact, it said I was 'All up to date!'
edit: This question is under the assumtion that all Steam workshops are managed the same through the Steam client.

Here is a possible workaround, according to a reddit thread :
Change your download region (Settings >> Downloads >> Download Region), restart Steam. The downloads should start.

I had the same problem. My skyrim data files didn't show any mods except dlcs. It is because of the mods don't download to steam/common/skyrim/data file. First of all I unsubscribed all mods than downloaded dawnguard dlc. After that I changed my download region to US New York. Than I restarted my steam. I subscribed my mods. And here we go. My mods are in there data files. Thanks Ealhad.
